As a non-profit organization which is member-run, the AKGA must maintain a Board of Directors to be in compliance with its Constitution and By-laws, and also with the government. In order to continue providing ourselves with high quality registration services, we must fill the two empty seats on the board, as well as an alternate seat.

Additionally, Karen Severn has served as the Treasurer for many years, but needs to step down for personal reasons. Therefore, one of the Directors will need to assume the Treasurer position. Karen states that this position takes about ten hours per month to pay bills, reconcile accounts in online Quicken and answer questions. All registry payments are sent directly to Associated Registries, so those deposits are NOT a duty for the Treasurer! The two monthly bills are for Associated Registries and UC Davis DNA Lab. Most other expenses, such as website costs, insurance, and reimbursements can be done online. Karen is happy to help guide and mentor the new Treasurer through the process. We have a CPA who has been doing our federal tax return for several years and Karen will ensure the Form 990 for 2024 is submitted in a timely manner.
