I bought a goat from another registry…

As you know, the AKGA is run by the members and members create the rules! In 2023, the members voted to expand the rules for providing AKGA numbers for goats from other registries. When goats were registered in other groups, they may have skipped doing DNA on some does for a variety of reasons.

Briefly, to transfer in a purebred goat, at least three grandparents must be verifiable via DNA, and the fourth through pedigree.  Also, if a goat does not qualify to transfer, its offspring may! Therefore, you could register offspring in the original registry and then transfer them to AKGA!
